Hello.

I’m Mark Johnson of the Theology Department at Marquette University. For most things see my profile on Academia.edu. This site has my Posts and my CV.

Ca’ Zanson?

In the early-1970’s my US Army father had our family stationed in Vicenza, Italy, 45 miles from Venice and smack-dab in the middle of Italy’s Veneto region. Venetian pronunciation further softens Italian soft g, s, and ci sounds, such that ‘Gian’ (‘Gianni’) sounds like ‘Zan.’

Now “Ca’ di Zan” means ”John’s house” in Venetian, and “ca’ Zanson” means ”Johnson’s house.” A fun domain name for someone whose given name is so generic as mine, right? I snapped it up.

Enjoy your stay.
